Album Thoughts
CAVEAT
Song Notes
Drugs
- Ohhhhhh strong start.
- The overdriven guitar and bass work well for this. It’s got some blues going, too.
- And there it was, I caught the jazz lick again!!
Oh, Tommy!
- Funky intro with the drums! We’re getting some jazz fusion going in here!
- And that busy soundscape I’ve been missing!
- The jingle bells in the bridge are a surprise!!
- Toward’s the end I’m almost feeling the Space Jam theme, too.
cocoon
- The progression here is so fascinating. The shifts up and the surprising ways they resolve back to the one are so neat!
- The exaggerated drums at the end startled the hell out of me, not gonna lie.
do i impress you?
- Huh, I actually have heard this one, but got super confused by the intro. It was so tonally wrong.
EASY DOES IT
- Hard to get a grip on this one. The stops throw off the count a bit.
- Not bad at all, though. It’s kind of hypnotic.
GUT STUFF
- Ooh, it hops around!
- I feel like the percussion is a little too strong.
- The chorus is cool with the steps it takes up and down.
monkey moves
- Back to some… jazz/funk fusion at the start here?? It rules.
all honesty
- We’re so jaunty and pop-y here.
- This is music to strut to in a park.
sunshowers
- The shift halfway through is good!!
General Thoughts
- This one is a return to weird form, and I’m so pleased.
- I always appreciate the percussion sounds nelward uses. I wish I could identify the sound library he’s using.
