Album Thoughts
I don't think I was ever really the target for blink-182, lyrically.
I was too tame, and didn’t honestly have a lot going on that would have gotten me to relate.
Songs
Dammit
- There’s a reason this one is a classic.
- Honestly, looking back at this as a thirty or forty year old guy, I can see how heavy the feelings are to people who still haven’t hit this point of maturation, or are still raw from these types of events. It’s so damn real, especially in a “That sucks, buddy,” sort of way.
Boring
- I should check out the lyrics and see if that makes the ending with the kissing and horse sounds make more sense.
- After looking, nope. They don’t.
Dick Lips
- The softer start was surprising and nice.
General
- I kinda went backwards, listening to Enema of the State first. This does sound more elementary.
- It is really kind of funny listening to this as a fully grown-ass adult man. I can see how many young people would find this relatable - it’s got all the feelings, talks about all the complex emotions and circumstances going on, and how much they suck. It’s all about growing up, even when you’re already “grown”.
