Album Thoughts
I asked for recommendations from my team at work, and this was one of 'em! No idea what I'm getting into here!
Song Notes
Dreamland
- Off to a strong start with the low bass synth string thingy.
Tangerine
- It’s very clean and flowy.

Hot Sugar
- So far, my favorite track. The vocals have an semi-soul thing going on, and the soundscape is busier.

Space Ghost Coast to Coast
- OOOOH, strong start.
- I like the sound a lot, but I feel like it’s leaning real hard on 90’s nostalgia and it feels like it’s kinda pretending to be hard…
Tokyo Drifting
- I like the sounds they’re using here a lot.
Melon and the Coconut
- It’s trying to lean really hard into nostalgia here.
Your Love (Déjà vu)
- Some cool instrumentation and choices in this one. I’m a fan!
Waterfalls Coming Out Your Mouth
- Not much to say here, it’s good!
It’s All So Incredibly Loud
- The growth of this song works really nicely with the title.

Domestic Bliss
- It’s a little lowkey and repetitive melodically. I dunno if that’s thematic or not, but it’s losing me a bit.
Heat Waves
- Ohhhhhh I know this one!
- It’s alright, and if there were gonna be a song to pull from this album as “the hit”, I can see why it’s this one, though I disagree.

- Not a lot to say here.
Helium
- This feels like something that would play at the end credits of a movie, but not like… starting the credits.
- The final string synth coming back at the end was a nice way to come full circle!
General Thoughts
- It’s good, but it’s not hitting the spot for me.
- The whole album feels misty and breathy and I dunno how well it’s working on me.
- As I’ve listened to the album more, the sounds they choose are growing on me a lot, and the feel of it is unifying in my mind. I’m enjoying this more than I thought I would at first brush.
- I don’t know that I’ll come back to this album, since there’s similar stuff that scratches my particular itches better than it does, but I appreciate it, and will probably check out a few others!
