Album Thoughts
Another picked up entirely on vibes at an antiques mall.
Song Notes
Screams in the Night
- A solid start with a good quick riff.
- The vocals feel exactly right for this.
Curse of the Damned
- The buildup to the chorus is excellent, though I find the chorus a little lacking somehow?
- The solo leaves something to be desired as well.
Satan
- I’m getting some Judas Priest out of this one, which is a real nice thing to find!
Full Speed Ahead
- Got a good chugging rhythm throughout.
The Howling Man
- Okay, there’s some more fun chords and chromatic progressions happening here.
Heavy Metal Heart
- A lot of songs have felt like they would do well in Guitar Hero, but this is the first one to make me think it, for whatever reason.
Livin’ Dangerous
- Getting big “Kickstart My Heart” vibes off of this one.
- I’m quite enjoying the backside of this song.
Mastermind
- I’m getting some KISS outta this song.
Run for Your Life
- Aptly named for music that’s so charged.
- It’s kinda bluesy, and feels like it could be good for like… a brawl or something.
Killer
- This one’s damn good - it feels like an album highlight, personally.
- It’s punchy and I can feel like it’s good to run to.
Save Me Now
- Oh, this one is interesting.
- The slower start and the chord progressions are much more… detailed than the rest?
Road Racin’
- A good finale - it makes me want to drive fast, as a song named “Road Racin’” should.
General Thoughts
- I like the tone they use for the lead guitar.
- The chord progressions feel very elementary, but they’re executed well with the harmonies they use.
- It’s fun and well executed, but I don’t think it’s anything to write home about nowadays. It could have really made a splash back in the 80’s, and absolutely fits in.
- KISS! That’s what the vocals remind me of, but like… way better than Gene Simmons.
