Further Elaboration On Ratings

  1. This is the closest I’m going to come to outright saying an album should not have been released. I will not say so because I’m not about to stifle someone’s artistic freedom just because I didn’t like their music. It does mean I found this album grating and I wish I had spent this time listening to anything other than a 0 rating.
  2. I didn’t like this album, would not seek it out again, and would avoid its contents if I have the ability to change what’s playing.
  3. This album is inoffensive to my sensibilities, or otherwise unremarkable. I will probably have very few thoughts about it.
  4. This album is enjoyable, and would happily listen along if someone put it on, even if I don’t have many thoughts about it.
  5. This is the kind of stuff I seek out and am likely to put on at any given time. It’s something I would recommend to people because I genuinely think it’s got something that I think people should listen to and give a try.
  6. This album will help you understand what makes me tick in some way shape or form, and I am always, always eager to listen to it.

These ratings are NOT judgments of technical musical ability, endorsements of politics/ethics/lifestyle, or statements on the quality of the music, nor is it a statement about what I think about people who enjoy what I'm rating. People are allowed to enjoy what they want and make the art that they want. If you're offended at me giving a rating to an album, chill. It's all just patterns in vibrations our brains can perceive.
