About

My desktop will occasionally, randomly restart. With the advent of automatic saving, file-caching, and session recovery, it’s… really not that big of a deal, but I don’t want it to become a big deal.

I’ve tried looking at crash logs, but they haven’t exactly been informative - that makes me think it’s a hardware issue. This used to happen before I upgraded my desktop, when the power supply wasn’t strong enough for everything I had it feeding, but it hasn’t been an issue until recently.

Another indicator that it’s a hardware issue is that unplugging the desktop and letting it discharge seems to alleviate the problem - at least until there’s a power outage, at my best guess.

I wonder if there’s too much stuff plugged in?

Investigation continues.

I think it’s more of a problem with the house’s electrical wiring. I should try to isolate my desktop to its own power cord rather than having it plugged into the power strip.

EDIT: 20250904

Well, I haven’t had this issue in a while. Dunno why, but I’ll be keeping an eye out for it cropping up again.

EDIT: 20251120

Issue’s cropped up again on and off. This might be silly to only just come to this conclusion, but my power supply is pretty new and has plenty of power for all of my stuff. I’m thinking that might be it, though. I need to investigate the power flow of my desktop.
