I've only listened to a little bit of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, and am very much looking forward to more!
Song Notes
- “Planet B” - Fast paced and heavy. I always appreciate a gallop in the rhythm.
- “Mars for the Rich” - Oh, I’m liking this a lot already. The intro is very strong. Some good blues-y chords and sounds in the chorus. Already a top contender.
- “Organ Farmer” - THRASH.
- “Superbug” - Fun pentatonoic riffs.
- “Venusian 1” - Back to THRASH.
- “Perihelion” - There’s some really cool bass harmony going on here!
- “Hell” - It’s all been good solid thrash!
General Thoughts
- I don’t think I’d have appreciated this as much in highschool, but I still probably would have liked it. Especially if it were in Guitar Hero.
- This is sounding like a heavier Iron Maiden.
- The way this album dips into the slower, fuzzier blues-y sounds really hits me right.
- All the subgenre swings they take are really well executed.
