PREAMBLE
I like a lot of Louie Zong’s work - it’s chill, creative, and the album art is always absolutely choice. This album’s art has a distinctly Jet Set Radio/Memories of Tokyo-to direction that I deeply adore.
Song Notes
- “Grub Hub” - What a cute little pun! I love the tired, wobbly, detuned lead synth here.
- “Phermone Follower” - It starts a bit basic, but once the extra layers hit it gets this nice, growl-y contrast in the harmony and is a solid dance track.
- “Queen Ant” - This song is a good sour song!
- “Hivemind (Extended Mix)” - D I S C O baby, boy it’s funky
General Thoughts
- Already I know this album is gonna be good to have in the background to work to.
- I think part of what I like about Louie Zong is there’s bits in his music that very much feel like Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards.
- This feels a little sparse for notes, but Louie doesn’t necessarily get complicated or write the hottest beats. He just puts out reliably good stuff, short and sweet.
